Since it's foundation in
the year of 1918, Almelo's Mannenkoor has succeeded in realizing a solid
position among other (male) choirs and musical societies, not only in Almelo
and it's region, but also in other parts of the Netherlands and in some
foreign countries as well. By giving concerts and making contact with other
choirs in the Netherlands and abroad, Almelo's Mannenkoor has sttled it's
reputation.
At the moment AMK (Almelo's Mannen Koor) has 80 singers
and is celebrating it's 85th birthday in 2003.
The choir may look back upon a period of time with various memorable facts,
e.g. a lot of beautiful concerts and serveral trips abroad (to Belgium,
Germany and Switzerland).
For the greater part the choir owes it's musical successes to it's competent
conductors, such as Wieke Jordans, Peter Best and it's present-day choirmaster/conductor
Nick Moritz and of course to it's enthusiastic singers.
AMK has a club-building of it's own. A gymnasium was reconstructed into a
wonderful accomodation with a great many facilities, all done by the singers
themselves.
Anno 2003 Almelo's Mannenkoor is still going strong, always trying to improve
it's musical standard.
Nick Moritz, conductor:
Nick Moritz has studied at the conservatory in Enschede.
Pricipal subjects: orchestra-conductor and piano. During his study he was
already interested in choral music and liked to be a choral conductor.

Some other activities: freelance copywriter, co-organizer of festivals and a musical teacher (theory and ear-training) in Germany.
